Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) – MAN 3 Sleman, in collaboration with the Student Council (OSIS/Dewa) and the Islamic Spiritual Organization (Rohis), held a religious gathering to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 H on Wednesday morning (June 17, 2026).
The meaningful event carried the theme “Strengthening Brotherhood in the New Hijri Year” with the tagline “1 Muharram 1448 H – One Heart, One Goal: Seeking Allah’s Pleasure.” The gathering was attended by Grade 10 and 11 students, accompanied by academic advisors and teachers of MAN 3 Sleman.
The main session featured a religious lecture delivered by Siti Zumairoh, an Aqidah Akhlak teacher at MAN 3 Sleman. Known affectionately as Iir, she encouraged students to use the beginning of the Hijri year as a moment for self-reflection.

She reminded students that the passing of a year also means a reduction in the time granted to humans in this world. Therefore, every moment of life should be valued and used wisely as the best preparation for the future.
In her lecture, Iir also explained the historical background of the Hijri calendar, which was established during the leadership of Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab and based on the significant event of the Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijrah) from Makkah to Madinah.
She emphasized that the Hijrah was not merely a physical journey from one place to another, but also a strategic movement that united two communities with different cultural backgrounds: the Muhajirin and the Ansar.
Connecting the historical meaning of Hijrah with today’s madrasa environment, Iir highlighted the importance of unity amid diversity.
“Students at MAN 3 Sleman come from different backgrounds, cultures, and personalities. However, when we gather here as one community, we must learn to embrace our differences and build harmony together,” she explained.

To strengthen the spirit of brotherhood within the madrasa, she encouraged students to develop tolerance and mutual respect.
“Let us strengthen our sense of brotherhood by controlling our egos, respecting one another, and practicing tolerance,” she added.
The event was also attended by Singgih Sampurno, Principal of MAN 3 Sleman, who expressed hope that the Islamic New Year would become a turning point for students and the entire madrasa community to improve themselves and strengthen their devotion.
“In this new Islamic year, may our worship continue to improve. We must commit ourselves to becoming better individuals than we were yesterday,” said Singgih.
The gathering concluded with a collective prayer, carrying hopes that the entire MAN 3 Sleman community will continue to receive blessings and move forward together in pursuit of Allah’s pleasure. (est)
