Charting the Future Early: MAN 3 Sleman Counselors Guide Grade X Students in Choosing Study Paths

Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — In preparation for the next academic phase and study concentration decisions, the Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers of MAN 3 Sleman conducted a socialization program on elective subject selection for all Grade X students. The activity took place over three days, from Tuesday to Thursday (April 7–9, 2026), at the PSBB Building, 2nd floor.

The program, attended by nine study groups, featured BK teachers Failasufah, Reny Puspitawari, and Suerlin Setyawati as speakers. This session is considered crucial as it marks an early step for students in mapping their academic journey toward higher education.

During the presentation, the speakers emphasized that choosing elective subjects must be based on students’ dreams and future study plans. Whether pursuing Science, Social Humanities, or Religious studies, early preparation is essential to ensure alignment with their intended university majors.

One of the speakers, Failasufah, outlined key principles that students must embrace to succeed in this transition. According to her, there are six essential keys to success: Strong learning motivation, discipline and commitment, positive thinking, active consultation with teachers, courage to take action on planned goals.

“Students must have the spirit to learn, discipline, and strong commitment. In addition, thinking positively, actively consulting, and having the courage to execute plans are key to achieving future success,” she emphasized.

This session aims to provide a deep understanding so that students can make informed decisions when selecting subjects that will support their academic portfolios for university applications. Early awareness of interests and talents is expected to help students set clear and measurable goals.

As a follow-up, students will complete an interest questionnaire, and they are strongly encouraged to have in-depth discussions with their parents to align their aspirations with family support.

This proactive initiative reflects MAN 3 Sleman’s commitment to guiding students not only toward academic success but also toward building a well-structured and purposeful future roadmap. (est)
