Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — Reny Puspitawati, a Guidance and Counseling (BK) teacher at MAN 3 Sleman, participated in the reorganization event of the Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association (ABKIN) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) on Saturday (June 13, 2026). The event was held at the Mohammad Amin Building, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), where Reny was entrusted with the position of Secretary of the Sleman Regency ABKIN Branch (PC ABKIN Sleman).
The event was officially opened by Yudi, Chairperson of the Yogyakarta City ABKIN Branch. The gathering proceeded in an orderly manner, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration and professional solidarity among guidance and counseling practitioners.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Muh. Farozin, Chairperson of the Indonesian ABKIN Central Board, who delivered guidance and motivation to participants. In addition, Fathur Rahman, Chairperson of ABKIN for the 2022–2026 period, shared an inspiring presentation on the strategic role of BK teachers in supporting students’ development amid increasingly complex educational challenges.
During the main agenda, participants selected the new ABKIN DIY leadership team. Twelve candidates were proposed, and through a democratic deliberation process that emphasized consensus and openness, Juster Donal Sinaga from Sanata Dharma University was elected as the new Chairperson of ABKIN DIY.

Following the regional leadership election, the meeting continued with the formation of ABKIN branch committees across regencies and cities. Through deliberation in Sleman Regency, Eko Yulianto from SMAN 1 Mlati was appointed as Chairperson of the Sleman Regency ABKIN Branch.
Reny expressed that the forum provided valuable insights into the development of professional counseling organizations while also opening opportunities for her to contribute more actively to the advancement of guidance and counseling services in Sleman Regency.
“Hopefully, the new leadership will bring ABKIN to greater progress, strengthen professionalism, and provide wider benefits for BK teachers and the education sector, particularly in the Special Region of Yogyakarta,” Reny said.
The reorganization event provided significant benefits for guidance and counseling professionals. ABKIN serves as an important professional platform that strengthens networking, enhances competence, and encourages collaboration among counselors, practitioners, and academics.
Beyond being a space for sharing experiences and developing knowledge, ABKIN also serves as a supportive professional community that provides encouragement, connection, and a sense of belonging for BK teachers in carrying out their responsibilities. (ren)
