Beyond Obligation: Discovering the True Essence of Khusyu’ Prayer at MAN 3 Sleman Ramadan Pesantren

Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — As part of the Mayoga Pesantren Ramadan program, MAN 3 Sleman conducted a worship session themed “Khusyu’ Prayer” on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. The session was attended by all Grade X students with great enthusiasm and reverence.

The material was delivered by Islamiatur Rohmah and M. Taufikurahman, who invited participants to reflect deeply on the true essence of prayer. They raised a thought-provoking theme: “Prayer: Fulfilling an Obligation or Meeting with Allah?”—a fundamental question intended to awaken students’ awareness about the quality of their worship.

During the session, it was emphasized that prayer (sholat) is not merely a routine act performed to discharge an obligation, but a sacred moment for a servant to supplicate and spiritually “meet” with Allah SWT. A khusyu’ prayer brings tranquility to the heart, focus to the mind, and full awareness of every recitation and movement performed.

The speakers also highlighted several keys to attaining khusyu’ in prayer, including understanding the meaning of the recitations, cultivating sincere intention, eliminating distractions, and realizing that each prayer could be one’s last opportunity in life.

The session was interactive, encouraging students to discuss and reflect on their personal experiences in performing prayer. Through this material, students are expected not only to understand the theory of khusyu’ prayer but also to implement it in their daily lives.

Through the Mayoga Pesantren Ramadan program, MAN 3 Sleman remains committed to nurturing a generation that excels not only academically but also spiritually. May this session inspire students to view prayer not merely as an obligation, but as an intimate and meaningful encounter with Allah SWT. (its)
