Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — As part of the Mayoga Pesantren Ramadan (MPR) series, MAN 3 Sleman organized a public speaking workshop featuring an Islamic debate session under the theme “How to Debate Properly.” The activity was led by Imas Kurniasih and enthusiastically attended by students on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
In her presentation, Imas outlined the essential techniques of effective debating, including how to structure strong arguments, present opinions systematically, and apply persuasive public speaking skills. She emphasized the importance of clarity, confidence, and respectful communication in delivering ideas.

Following the theoretical session, students engaged in hands-on practice by forming discussion groups. Each group was guided by a teacher to analyze and prepare arguments based on assigned motions. The activity culminated in inter-class debate sessions, where student representatives presented their viewpoints and responded to opposing arguments in a competitive yet respectful atmosphere.
Through this training, students were not only encouraged to develop confidence in speaking before an audience, but also to manage emotions, use appropriate gestures, and sharpen their critical thinking skills in articulating and defending their opinions.

It is hoped that this workshop will provide valuable experience in enhancing students’ public speaking abilities, particularly in Islamic debate, enabling them to become communicative, confident, and broad-minded individuals.
Through initiatives like this, MAN 3 Sleman continues its commitment to delivering holistic education—one that goes beyond academics and equips students with essential life skills for the future. (mia)
