“Trendy Yet Modest”: MAN 3 Sleman Students Explore Islamic Dress Ethics in Ramadan Study Session

Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — As part of the Mayoga Pesantren Ramadan (MPR) program, MAN 3 Sleman held a moral study session on Islamic dress ethics under the theme “Trendy Yet Modest.” The session was delivered by Rr. Siti Zumairoh and attended enthusiastically by students on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).

In her presentation, she explained that dressing in Islam is not merely about following fashion trends, but about fulfilling key principles such as covering the aurat (parts of the body that must be concealed), maintaining neatness, and ensuring comfort—while remaining aligned with Islamic guidelines. Students were encouraged to understand that a good appearance can harmoniously reflect religious values.

The session also clarified the boundaries of aurat for both male and female students as part of practicing good character in daily life. Understanding these guidelines is seen as an essential element of embodying Islamic morals.

To reinforce the material, the speaker presented video examples demonstrating that one can dress in a modern, stylish, and appealing way while still adhering to Islamic principles.

Through this study session, students are expected to become more aware of the importance of maintaining an appearance that reflects Islamic teachings, while positively expressing themselves without compromising religious values.

This activity represents one of MAN 3 Sleman’s continuous efforts to nurture a generation that excels not only academically, but also in moral integrity and Islamic character. (mia)
