Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — A unique and refreshing atmosphere marked the Syawalan (Halalbihalal) gathering of the MAN 3 Sleman community, setting it apart from similar events held by other institutions. The event brought together all teachers and staff—both active and retired—as well as members of the Association of Former Teachers and Staff (PAMANTARU), on Saturday (March 28, 2026), at the Multi-Purpose Room beneath Masjid Muntasyirul Ulum.
What made the event particularly distinctive was the use of Javanese as the primary language throughout almost the entire program. From the master of ceremonies to the remarks delivered by the organizing committee, the event was conducted in Javanese—reflecting a long-standing tradition upheld by MAN 3 Sleman.
This cultural approach has become one of the institution’s unique identities, serving not only to preserve local heritage but also to reintroduce regional language to younger generations in a meaningful and engaging way.

The Head of MAN 3 Sleman, Singgih Sampurno, admitted that this was his first time witnessing such a concept.
“This is the first time I’ve experienced an event like this being conducted in Javanese,” he remarked.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining this tradition as part of cultural preservation. By blending religious values with local wisdom, the Halalbihalal event is expected to foster greater awareness among the school community about the importance of nguri-uri kabudayan (preserving cultural heritage) as an essential part of national identity—while at the same time strengthening bonds of brotherhood and unity.
This event stands as clear evidence that MAN 3 Sleman is not only committed to strengthening religious values but also actively engaged in preserving and promoting local culture within the educational environment. (mia)
