Faith Must Be Reflected in Actions: MAN 3 Sleman Student Delivers Inspiring Ramadan Sermon

Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) – A student of class XI E at MAN 3 Sleman, Vino Adyuta Nugroho, delivered a short Ramadan sermon (kultum) after the congregational Dhuhr prayer on Thursday (5/3/2026) at Muntasyirul Ulum Mosque. The sermon was part of the madrasa’s regular Ramadan program, held daily after the Dhuha and Dhuhr prayers, with students taking turns as speakers according to a scheduled rotation.

In his sermon titled “Faith Reflected in Behavior,” Vino emphasized that Ramadan is not merely about refraining from food and drink, but also a meaningful opportunity to strengthen faith and cultivate noble character. He explained that faith is not only expressed through words but must also be proven through attitudes and actions in daily life.

Vino quoted a verse from Surah Al-Hujurat (49:15) which explains that true believers are those who firmly believe in Allah and His Messenger and demonstrate that belief through their deeds. He also mentioned a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad stating that faith has many branches, ranging from declaring the testimony of faith to simple acts such as removing harmful objects from the road.

During his sermon, Vino encouraged the congregation to bring faith into real-life practice. He provided several examples of behaviors that reflect faith, such as being honest during exams, keeping promises, and controlling anger when facing problems.

He also reminded the audience that in today’s digital era, faith is reflected in how individuals use social media. Every word, post, or comment should reflect good character, in line with the Prophet’s teaching that a believer should speak good words or remain silent.

At the end of his sermon, Vino invited the congregation to use Ramadan as a moment for self-improvement, both in strengthening their relationship with Allah and in improving their relationships with others. He expressed hope that the values of faith cultivated during Ramadan would continue to be reflected in daily behavior, bringing positive change to individuals and the surrounding community. (mia)
