Sleman (MAN 3 Sleman) — The Yogyakarta City Library has initiated a collaboration with the Mayoga Library of MAN 3 Sleman through its literacy program “Rotate Your Book.” On Wednesday (February 4, 2026), two librarians from the Yogyakarta City Library visited the Mayoga Library to discuss and establish the partnership. The Rotate Your Book program itself has been running successfully at the city library for the past year.
In addition to MAN 3 Sleman, the Yogyakarta City Library has also partnered with several shopping malls and university libraries across Yogyakarta. At MAN 3 Sleman, the program will involve teachers, staff members, and students, creating a wider culture of reading within the school community.
Rita Susanti, a librarian from the Yogyakarta City Library, explained that the main goal of Rotate Your Book is to allow readers to benefit from the exchange of books. Through this sharing system, participants can broaden their knowledge, insights, and access to information.

Rita also outlined the book requirements for the program.
“Each participant must bring at least one book in good, readable condition. The book can be exchanged for another from the book bank. Acceptable types include fiction, non-fiction, educational comics, and children’s books. The books must be original—not pirated or photocopied—and textbooks or worksheets are not allowed,” she clarified.
The Rotate Your Book process is simple. First, participants submit the book they wish to exchange to the Mayoga Library staff. Second, the staff checks whether the book is in proper condition. Third, participants select a book from the available book bank collection. Finally, participants complete an online form as proof of participation.
Through this collaboration, both libraries hope to encourage reading habits, promote book sharing, and strengthen literacy culture among students and the broader community. (tik)
